Timeline and invoicing
Ten weeks to a new store. Then phase two.
The project runs in weekly periods. Four weeks of design, four weeks of Shopify Liquid development, and two weeks of refinement. We are in week 3 now.
Design
Sep 4 – Oct 1
Four weeks of design: your notes on version one, a revised version two, and a final locked direction for every page in the proposal.
Development
Oct 2 – Oct 29
The locked designs are built in Shopify Liquid on your existing store. Theme work happens on a duplicate, so the live store stays untouched until launch.
Refinement
Oct 30 – Nov 12
Two weeks of polish on the built store: cross-device passes, content and copy adjustments, and anything that surfaces once the real catalog is flowing through the new theme. Phase two begins after this.
Five invoices, tied to the phases
Nothing is due up front beyond the deposit. Design is $5,000 in total, the deposit plus the design invoice. Development is $7,000, split at the midpoint so payment tracks the build as it happens.
Week of Sep 7
Secures the schedule and covers the design work already in motion. The deposit is part of the design total, added to the design invoice rather than deducted from it.
End of design, week of Sep 25
Due when the design direction is locked and handed to development. Together with the deposit, design totals $5,000.
Development midpoint, week of Oct 9
First half of the $7,000 Shopify Liquid build, due two weeks into development.
End of development, week of Oct 23
Second half of the build, due when the new theme is complete on your store.
End of refinement, week of Nov 6
Scoped by what is actually needed. We agree the number before this phase starts, based on the punch list coming out of development.
After week ten
Refinement closes out phase one. Phase two is scoped separately once the new store is live and we can see what it needs next.
In phase two we will discuss continued development of the account avatar character builder, along with additional iterative design development as the store needs it.
